Who will be crowned Footballer of the Year?

Germany women’s record for 2015 is generally a positive one. They recorded 12 wins in 18 games, with a 58:13 goal difference, booking their place in the Olympic Games 2016 with a fourth-placed finish at the World Cup in Canada. In other words, the women’s national side had a successful year. The Fan Club of the national team powered by Coca-Cola are holding a vote to find out which player stood out most this year.

Voting could not be easier. Simply click on this Link, select your chosen player and click on the ‘Abstimmen’ (Vote) button. Anyone can enter, and every nomination counts. The vote will close on Tuesday, 12th January at 12:00 CET.

14 players nominated

All players who appeared in at least ten international matches over the course of the year have been nominated. There are 14 players in total, the spine of the squad.

Anja Mittag leads the way in terms of appearances, having featured in all 18 matches in 2015. Melanie Leupolz and Annike Krahn both played 17 matches, and Krahn leads the way in terms of minutes on the pitch, having played 1344 out of a total 1680 minutes.

Simone Laudehr (1052 minutes), Tabea Kemme (1105), Lena Goeßling (1205) and Sara Däbritz (895) can all boast 15 appearances. Alex Popp attained 14, Leonie Maier 13. Other nominees include Dzsenifer Marozsan, Celia Sasic (both 12 appearances), Melanie Behringer (11), Saskia Bartusiak and Nadine Angerer (both 10).

The top goalscorers of the year are Anja Mittag and Celia Sasic with eight goals each, closely followed by Alex Popp’s seven and Dzsenifer Marozsan’s six. The DFB women scored 58 goal in total, a tally shared by 15 different scorers.

Head coach Silvia Neid used 33 different players over the 18 games in 2015.
