Werner: "A great weight has been lifted"

After the game, the players face the press. We caught up with the Bundesliga players after matchday 6 to see how they evaluate their own and their team’s performances.

Hannover 96 1-3 Vfb Stuttgart

Timo Werner: A great weight has been lifted after this victory. We were the better team for large parts of the game and eventually earned ourselves the win.

Ron-Robert Zieler: We know how important a game that was. It’s annoying that we couldn’t pick up any points against a team that was level with us in the league. Because we were playing at home, we had a lot of expectation ahead of the game and thought we could get something out of it, but we weren’t able to and we’re disappointed. When it comes down to it, we could’ve and should’ve been better in all areas. We can’t let this happen again and need to pull together as a team.

Bayern München 5-1 VfL Wolfsburg

Jérôme Boateng: Robert Lewandowski is one of the best strikers in the world and I am blessed to be playing in the same team as him. It’s difficult to defend against him, and I am lucky to be able to have the experience of training with him.

Thomas Müller: It was incredible. That kind of thing will never happen so fast again. I am in awe to be sharing a dressing room with him. Congratulations to him!

Maximilian Arnold: I have no idea. I can’t explain. We don’t need to talk about it.

Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-2 FC Augsburg

Patrick Herrmann: We have eventually found out form from last season. We were confident up front and pressed high up the pitch. We forced the goals and produced a great performance. We did a lot more right than we have done in recent weeks, and it was clear that we absolutely wanted the win from the first minute. We fought hard, and that’s something we need to take into the coming games. That was just a small step. We now look to Saturday and want to win against Stuttgart.

1899 Hoffenheim 1-1 Borussia Dortmund

Ilkay Gündogan: We were poor in the first half but better in the second. We made a lot of mistakes before the interval. We didn’t really get going and we let Hoffenheim win the second balls. When you go into half time 1-0 down it is always difficult.

Julian Weigl: We didn’t take our chances in the second half, even though we created several. That was a crucial for the result of the game. In the first half we didn’t play very well, but after the interval it was a different game. It’s annoying that we didn’t play like this from the off.

Kevin Volland: We’re very glad to get a point, especially against Dortmund in the form that they’re in and after our recent results. We played confidently and stood strong. It is unlikely that you will be able to prevent a team like BVB from getting chances, but we could’ve won had luck been on our side. It’s a big step forward. We need to bring this kind of passion into the games against Augsburg and Stuttgart. Only then will have the opportunities to score. It doesn’t always go your way, but you can always keep running and keep fighting.

Sebastian Rudy The goal came from perfect build up play. I was able to run with the ball and then put it in corner of the net. The point was very important. All in all we played a very good game. We held strong defensively and were dangerous up front. We earned the point, but in a way, lost two points. We are happy, however, and this something to build on.

Hertha BSC 2-0 FC Köln

Niklas Stark: It was a great game and the fans created an amazing atmosphere. I felt at home straight away and the team helped me to play a good game.

Yannick Gerhardt: I think it was an even match and both teams had chances. The difference was that Hertha were composed and we weren’t. The good thing is that with the busy schedule, we don’t have a lot of time to dwell on it. We have a chance to make it right against Ingolstadt on Friday at home.
