Werder will want to frustrate Bayern

Matchday 25 of the Bundesliga continues on Saturday (14th March). The most mouth watering clash on Saturday at 15:30 CET will be at the Weser-Stadion, as top of the table FC Bayern München visit in form SV Werder Bremen. Elsewhere, FC Schalke 04 will be looking to build on Tuesday night’s 4-3 win against Real Madrid in the Champions League as they travel to the capital to take on Hertha BSC.

Two in-form sides in 2015 will go up against each other in Bremen on Saturday. No other team in the Bundesliga has picked up more points than both Bremen and Bayern in this calendar year (Wolfsburg also have 16). However, it won’t be an easy task for the home side, especially seeing as they have the joint worse defensive record in the league and will be going up against the most potent strike force in the Bundesliga in Bayern.

Schalke’s impressive win in Madrid on Tuesday night will give them a boost of confidence going into their game with Hertha BSC. They will also be boosted by the fact that they have won the last seven meetings between the two sides and are unbeaten in their last 12 games against the club from the capital. It might prove to be a tough afternoon for Hertha, who have only scored four goals in their last eight Bundesliga games.

Elsewhere at 15:30 CET, European hopefuls FC Augsburg will host 1. FSV Mainz 05 and will be hoping that they can consolidate their place among the European places. Eintracht Frankfurt will welcome strugglers SC Paderborn 07 to the Commerzbank Arena, whilst Hamburger SV travel to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim looking to try and distance themselves from the relegation places. The final game on Saturday takes place at 18:30 CET between Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Köln. Köln won the game between the two sides earlier in the season 2-1 but it looks to be a much tougher affair this time round after Dortmund have picked up an impressive 13 points from their last five games and will be looking to continue their good run of form on Saturday night.

The action continues on Sunday in Wolfsburg at 15:30 CET as the second placed Wolves host second bottom SC Freiburg. Freiburg have lost their last two games and are without a goal in 245 minutes of Bundesliga football, whilst VfL Wolfsburg will be looking to take advantage of any slip up from FC Bayern on Saturday to try and close the gap at the top. Matchday 25 will come to a close at 17:30 CET on Sunday at Borussia-Park, as Champions League hopefuls Borussia Mönchengladbach welcome Hannover 96.
