Werder Bremen have a new head coach

Alexander Nouri has been appointed SV Werder Bremen head coach on a permanent basis. The 37-year-old, who was previously in charge on an interim deal, will remain in charge until the end of the season. Sporting director Frank Baumann explained that “Alexander Nouri has shown in recent weeks that he can work well with the team and has already achieved a lot with them. We’ve decided that he deserves the chance to continue on this path. We were unable to find a candidate who was more of a complete package than Alexander Nouri.”

Nouri added that “it’s a great challenge but we’ll work together as a unit in order to be successful. We have a good squad, great coaches and staff that ensure things run perfectly. The facilities are excellent too. I’m looking forward to it.”

Nouri started in the role two weeks after the departure of previous boss Viktor Skripnik. Werder have taken four points from his two games in charge and are currently 15th in the table.
