We wear different colours, but we are united against violence!

Explosions around Borussia Dortmund’s team bus led to the postponing of their Champions League quarter-final against AS Monaco on Tuesday evening. There were three explosions which led to Marc Bartra’s hand and arm being injured, for which the BVB centre-back required medical attention. The quarter-final first leg will now be played on Wednesday, at 18:45 CEST. DFB.de collected the reactions to the incident.

Reinhard Rauball (BVB President): The players have disembarked the bus and are in a safe location. The worst thing that could happen is if the perpetrators are looking to cause further trouble.

Hans-Joachim Watzke (BVB CEO): An explosive attack has been committed against the team bus. The whole team is in a state of shock. It’s not something you would ever expect. I hope that the team are somewhat ready to play a competitive game out on the pitch. In critical times like these, everyone stands united behind Borussia.

DFB: We wish Marc Bartra the best and hope he recovers soon!

Benedikt Höwedes (Schalke 04): We wear different colours, but we are united against violence! All the best to Marc Bartra and the whole BVB team! I hope you’re all okay!

Jerome Boateng (Bayern München): Hope everybody is okay!

Ilkay Gündogan (Manchester City, formerly at BVB): I can’t comprehend it! I hope that you are all doing well.

Holger Badstuber (Schalke 04): My thoughts are with Dortmund and BVB. It’s terrible what has happened...

Steffen Freund (1997 Champions League winner with BVB): If it was a direct attack on the bus, then it’s not just forgotten about come Wednesday, it’s not easily mentally and physically overcome. That has a lot of consequences.

Gerald Asamoah (Former Schalke 04 and Germany player): Unbelievable... all of football needs to come together in this moment. Get well soon.

Javi Martinez (Bayern München): Marc Bartra, I hope that you recover quickly and can play tomorrow!

Carlo Ancelotti: (Bayern München manager): Our total support for BVB and we hope Marc Bartra recovers soon.
