Walpurgis named new FC Ingolstadt coach

Maik Walpurgis has been announced as the new head coach for Bundesliga side FC Ingolstadt. The 43-year-old is taking on the job after the departure of Markus Kauczinski. Walpurgis formerly of VfL Osnabrück, is initially contracted to the Schanzer until June 2018.

“The Bundesliga has always been my ultimate goal. This is a very special day for me. I am delighted to have been given this opportunity and I am absolutely sure that we will have reason to celebrate come the end of the season,” said Walpurgis.

FC Ingolstadt parted company with Kauczinski last Sunday. They are yet to win this season, claiming just two points from their 10 matches and are 17th in the table.
