Unstoppable Bayern, Leverkusen climb to second

Bayern München opened a gap of ten points to new runners-up Bayer Leverkusen on Round 14 of the Bundesliga after winning 2-0 at SC Freiburg. Leverkusen celebrated a 4-1 at Werder Bremen and leap-frogged their rivals to climb to second place.

Borussia Dortmund had complicated their quest for a third championship in a row on Tuesday after being held to a 1-1 at home by promoted Fortuna Düsseldorf. Other two contenders for the top spot even lost their matches: Schalke 04 fell 1-3 to Hamburger SV, Eintracht Frankfurt were outscored by neighbours FSV Mainz 05 1-3 at home. Hannover 96 climb after an undisputed 2-0 over SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

At 8.45 pm, 1. FC Nürnberg and 1899 Hoffenheim conclude the 14th matchday.
