In front of 2000 visitors at Tiraspol the only goal of the match was scored by German defender Dennis Aogo after 16 minutes, after the pro of Bundesliga-side Hamburger SV lobbed goalkeeper Florian Fromlowitz in an attempt to deflect the incoming ball back with his chest.
Best chances to equalize came by headers of Rouwen Hennings (52nd) and Mats Hummels (64th and 78th).
