The German Under 21 National Team gained a precious 1-1 (0-1) draw at group leaders Czech republic in their penultimate qualifier for the European Championship 2011 in Denmark.
DFB coach Rainer Adrion included eight debutants in the starting lineup after his side had missed the finals as titleholders after a 1-4 at Iceland in August.
Germany controlled the match from the beginning, but wasn't able to score from a handful of clear opportunities. On the other side, the Czechs took the lead with their first serious shot. Lukas Marecek was on target from 18 metres after 38 minutes.
The German side kept their spirit and earned the equaliser in the 72nd minute, when Jan Kirchhoff from Bundesliga side FSV Mainz 05 deflected a shot by Sebastian Jung to make it 1-1.
