UEFA confirm goal-line technology for European championships 2016

From the 10th June to the 10th July, the 15th UEFA European Championships will take place in France. 24 teams will compete in ten stadiums to be crowned champions of Europe. DFB.de will keep you up to date with the most important developments going into the tournament this summer.

Goal-line technology: It has been confirmed by UEFA that goal-line technology systems will be in place for this summer’s tournament. This was decided by the executive committee of the Union of European Football Associations in Nyon. The technology will also be introduced from the knockout stages of the 2016/17 Champions League. The supplier has not yet been confirmed.

In the current Bundesliga season, the British camera system 'Hawk Eye' is in place, and in the World Cup in 2014, FIFA used the German GoalControl-System to aid the referees. In England, Italy (both Hawk Eye) and in France (GoalControl), this technology has already been implemented. Previously, UEFA had relied solely on extra officials positioned behind the goal.
