The Germany U21 National Team meet on Monday in Wiesbaden. Here, Stefan Kuntz’s team will prepare for their encounter against England on Friday (20:00 CET). The last important test before the U21 European Championships in Poland in June, will come on Tuesday 28th March (18:00 CET) against Portugal in Stuttgart.
After their perfect European Championship qualifying run which featured ten wins in ten games, 35 goals scored and only eight conceded, Kuntz sees the upcoming games as “genuine tests” to see exactly how good this DFB team is. Both opponents have already qualified for the Euros and, alongside the German team, are considered favourites for the title. “It’s important to me, that we go into both international games prior to the tournament with most of the players that will play in the Euros,” said the DFB manager. “For us it’s now about testing out special things that make us play better as a team and develop us.”
U21s in the children’s hospital and training publically
Aside from the footballing preparations for the European Championships, the Germany U21 Team will have a busy schedule ahead of them. The players and a DFB delegation will visit the Bärenherz children’s hospital on Wednesday in Wiesbaden. Staying true to their motto of “U21s help”, the team have visited multiple charitable and social projects since the end of last year, in an effort to support these institutions. As well as this, there will be a public training session in Wiesbaden’s BRITA Arena on Wednesday evening (18:00 CET), where the fans can see their stars in action up close, and receive autographs at the end of the session.
A DFB delegation and some players plan to visit 1. FSV Schierstein and their youth teams in Wiesbaden on Saturday. Officials of the regional-league club will communicate with DFB vice-president Ronny Zimmermann, whilst the players can pick up some tips from the U21 internationals whilst training.
