U20s win 1-0 in Portugal

The Germany U20 team have returned with a win in the bag after their trip to Portugal. Coach Frank Kramer’s team put in a strong performance to overcome the hosts with a 1-0 victory in Coimbra. The next match awaits the U20s on Tuesday (KO 18:00 CEST) in Gütersloh, Germany against Poland.

The German youngsters created more chances than their Portuguese opponents in the first half, but weren’t able to convert those opportunities into goals. Not much changed in the second half and the German U20s were rewarded for their dominance in the 77th minute. Robin Hack scored the winner, which gave the team the away win.

“We’re delighted with the result; it was a very well-deserved win. You have to do a lot of things right to come away from Portugal with a win,” Kramer appeared satisfied after the game. “We were clearly the better side from the 20th minute onwards. The only thing I can criticise is that we weren’t clinical enough before the goal.”
