U19s win against Poland

The Germany U19s team have reached the second round of European Championships qualification by topping their group. In the third and final game in the first qualifying round for the European Championships, DFB head coach Meikel Schönweitz’s side ran out 2-0 winners against Poland. Before the game, both teams already had their place in the next round courtesy of wins against Belarus and Northern Ireland.

”The lads put in a very strong performance. We dominated the game from start to finish and defended well so we didn’t give away any goalscoring opportunities at 2-0,” said Schönweitz about his team’s performance.

Beste scores and Maier gets on the scoresheet too

Germany finally got their deserved goal in the 68th minute as Borussia Dortmund’s Jan-Niklas Beste scored and Hertha BSC’s Arner Maier ensured the victory in the 81st minute.

The second qualification round will take place between 18th and 27th March and the seven teams which top their respective groups will head to the 2018 U19s European Championships in Finland. The draw will take place on 6th December in Nyon.
