U18s win 2-1 against the Netherlands

The Germany U18s have won their second game during their time in their Spanish training camp, as Meikel Schönweitz’ team beat the Netherlands 2-1 on Monday afternoon.

“It was an extremely intense game between two top teams, who didn’t give each other anything over 90 minutes. I'm very happy about how the team played, they were brave, pressed early on and did everything I asked,” commented Schönweitz.

Tillman and Müsel with the goals

Timothy Tillman of FC Bayern München put Germany ahead after 20 minutes, but this lead lasted just three minutes as the Oranje equalised through Tom van de Looi. In first-half stoppage time, Torben Müsel of 1. FC Kaiserslauten restored the DFB Team’s advantage. In the dying moments of the game, Dutch player Navajo Bakboord was dismissed for a second bookable offence (90+1).

This was the U18s’ second win of the international break. In their first match against Ireland, they showed great character to come back from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2.
