U17s Women win second game in Denmark

The Germany U17s Women have experienced a successful end to their year, as Anouschka Bernhard’s side triumphed 4-2 in their second game in Denmark. Marleen Schimmer (9’), Nicole Anyomi (11’, 22’) and Lisa Ebert (25’) got the goals for the DFB Team, as they won in front of a full main stand.

On Tuesday, Bernhard watched as her team won 2-0 against the same opponent and she was also happy with how her players performed in the second match. “We scored two early goals, were better than in the game on Tuesday and were dominant over 80 minutes,” said the coach. “They were good tests. We wanted to have a positive end to our year and we achieved that – against an opponent like that it’s first and foremost about winning.”

Bernhard: “We know what we have to work on”

Anyomi improved her goal tally with the U17s to nine strikes in seven games, while for Schimmer, her goal was her seventh in as many matches. Ebert debuted at this age level in this week’s first game and she was able to celebrate her second appearance with a goal. On target for the Danes were Maria Herdel (14’) to halve her country’s deficit (2-1) and Josefine Hasbo (45’) as she got Denmark’s second.

“Once again we’ve been able to find out what we still have to work on,” noted Bernhard. “We’ll take important lessons from this game and work on them in the coming year.” Next year (25th – 30th March), the U17s will contest the second round of qualification for the European Championships in England, they’ll face Italy (25th), the hosts (27th) and Poland (30th). The group winners will qualify for the final tournament which will take place from the 2nd to the 14th of May 2017 in the Czech Republic.
