U17s in round of 16 after 4-0 win over Chile

The DFB U17s have booked themselves a place in the round of 16 of the World Cup in Chile. Christian Wück’s squad beat Argentina 4-0, which after their opening 4-1 win over Australia, leaves them with 6 points. They have therefore reached the next round with a game to spare.

Due to the fact that Mexico and Australia could only play out a 0-0 draw, a draw against Mexico (4 points) on Saturday night in Talca would secure top spot for Germany. Australia have one point, and Argentina remain on 0.

"We are pleased with the win and being first in the group, but this is just the start," said Wück. "We want to keep the same level as against Mexico, and consolidate our position in the group." The goals were scored by Vitaly Janelt (5’), Johannes Eggestein (33’), captain Felix Passlack (45’) and Niklas Schmidt (68’).
