U 21 miss European-Championship-Qualification

The German U 21-team loose 1-4 (0-1) in Iceland and miss the qualification for the European Championship 2011 in Denmark. The defeat is synonymous with the miss of the Olympic Games 2012 in London.

Birkir Bjarnason scored the first goal for Iceland (5.) in Hafnarfjördur. The team of DFB-Coach Rainer Adrion was too harmless. Marcel Schmelzer of Borussia Dortmund had the best chance to score the 1-1 (45.)

In the second half-time Kevin Großkreutz scored the 1-1 (49.), but Iceland got back into game with two goals in only 90 seconds to 3-1-led. Gyfil Thor Sigurdsson (53.) and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson (54.) scored. Alfred Finnbogason scored the 4-1-final-score.
