A double by André Schürrle secured Germany's Under 21 National Team a 2-1 (1-1) victory in a friendly against Ukraine in Unterhaching on Monday.
The striker of FSV Mainz 05 opened the score after 13 minutes and added a second goal after 61 minutes. The guests had equalised through Roman Bezus shortly before half-time (39th).
Rainer Adrion's team controlled the match throughout the 90 minutes and especially after Igor Plastun was sent off after a foul on Schürrle in the 47th minute of the match.
Titleholders Germany earlier had missed the play-offs for the European Championships 2011, giving Adrion the opportunity to start working early with a new team for the upcoming campaign.
