U 21 beat Scotland after goals by Hunt and Fleßers
The U 21 team of the DFB won their first match in the year 2007 2-0 (1-0) against Scotland. In Cumbernauld Aaron Hunt (22.) from Werder Bremen and Borussia Mönchengladbach's Robert Fleßers (74.) in his first appearance in the squad scored for Germany. "I'm very confident with this result, but there are things, we still have to improve", said Coach Dieter Eilts, who is looking to qualify with his team for U 21 European Championships.
“The qualifying round will start this summer, which gives us sufficient time to prepare a strong team”, said Eilts. The game against Scotland is a first step in this development. Dieter Eilts warned his players about the opponent. “The Scottish team has qualified for the U20-World Cup in Canada. We’ll face an experienced team in Scotland. It should be a fiercely fought game.”
The Preliminary Draw for the U 21 European Championships takes place on February 13 in Stockholm. The team’s next home game takes place in Reutlingen on February 21, when Eilts and his team will face Italy (5.45 P.M., live on DSF).
