Twelve goals nominated for "Goal of the Year"

The German national team's attacking brand of football is characterised by the goals they score. In 2013, they found the back of the net in all manner of ways, whether from quick passes, spectacular set pieces or bold long-range efforts. The team scored an impressive 35 times in 12 matches, and 12 of these goals have now been nominated by the National Team Fan Club powered by Coca-Cola in the vote to find the "National Team Goal of the Year".

Anyone can take part and every vote counts. Simply click on this link and make your selection from the list – that's it! Voting will close on Wednesday at 14:00 CET.

Who will follow in Klose and Özil’s footsteps?

Choosing this year’s best strike will not be easy, as the 12 goals up for selection include Sami Khedira’s match-winning effort in the 2-1 victory over France on 6 February, Mario Götze’s goal to give Germany a 2-0 lead over Kazakhstan on 26 March and André Schürrle completing his hat-trick in the 5-3 win over Sweden on 15 October.

The winner of this year’s poll will follow in the footsteps of 2012 National Team Goal of the Year winner Miroslav Klose, whose effort in the 1-0 win over Sweden at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium topped last year’s vote, and 2011 winner Mesut Özil, who was recognised for his goal in Germany’s 3-0 victory over the Netherlands in Hamburg.
