TuS Koblenz take on Dynamo Dresden at the Stadion Zwickau

The first-round match of the DFB Pokal between TuS Koblenz and Dynamo Dresden will be held on Friday, 11th August (19:00 CEST) at the Stadion Zwickau. TuS Koblenz’s home ground, the Stadion Oberwerth, is currently undergoing major refurbishment.

Despite the club’s best efforts, the support from the DFB and the town, TuS Koblenz have been unable to secure another ground nearby for this tie.

The tie was unable to be postponed until after the completion of the refurbishment works on the stadium.

Frymouth: “Exceptional circumstances require flexibility”

Peter Frymuth, DFB Vice President said, “The exceptional circumstances here require flexibility from all parties which may involve permitting the odd thing that would not usually be in line with the way in which DFB conducts where and how cup ties are held. It is a shame that TuS Koblenz will not be able to host this special game in Koblenz due to the extensive building work going on.”

TuS Vice President Hans-Werner explained, “It was a difficult situation. The stadium in Zwickau was our final and only option. It is of course not a good solution for our fans. We would like to thank DFB and the city of Koblenz, who have used all their available capabilities to support us. I am also grateful to those responsible at FSV Zwickau and the stadium operating company, which has been incredibly helpful right from the beginning.”
