Thomas Schaaf leaves Hannover

Hannover 96 have parted company with head coach Thomas Schaaf. The 54-year-old was informed of the division on Sunday afternoon. The Reds have lost 10 of their last 11 games. Schaaf has been replaced by current U19 boss Daniel Stendel, who turns 42 tomorrow. Hannover were beaten 3-0 by Hamburger SV on Saturday. Wolfgang Rolff and Matthias Hönerbach have also moved on.

"It wasn’t an easy decision to make. Thomas works extremely hard and is determined to meet goals. He worked alongside the other coaches to try and achieved positive results here, however, that didn’t happen,” explained sporting director Martin Bader. “After losing 10 out of the last 11 games we decided that a change was needed in order to give the team a new spark ahead of the rest of the season. We know that we’re in a bad position but survival is still possible.”
