Why are the division three sides in Pot 2?

In both the first and second round draws, all of the teams from division three are in a so-called “amateur pot”. From the quarter final onwards all teams will be placed into the same pot.

Who gets a home tie?

Clubs from the amateur pot generally get the benefit of a home tie. An exception to this rule occurs when as two amateur sides meet against each other in the quarter final. In this instance, the team drawn first enjoys home advantage.

How many Bundesliga sides are in the draw?

16 teams from the Bundesliga made it through to the second round. Only RB Leipzig (lost 5-6 on penalties to Dynamo Dresden) and Werder Bremen (lost 1-2 to Sportfreunde Lotte) failed to progress further. 13 teams from Bundesliga 2 will also continue their cup run.

When will the second round fixtures be played?

The ties will be played on the 25th and 26th October with four games taking place at 19:00 CEST and four games at 20:30 CEST.
