Table toppers Ingolstadt held to second successive draw

2. Bundesliga table toppers FC Ingolstadt appear to have lost their winning touch. On matchday 26 they were held to a goalless draw in Braunschweig, opening the door for the pursuing teams to close the gap. Ingolstadt have only managed one victory in their last six league games.

Eintracht Braunschweig's Hendrick Zuck missed the best opportunity of the game in the 34rd minute. Keeper Ramazan Özcan saved his shot, deflecting the ball over the crossbar with his shoulder. Prior to this remarkable save, Öczan had already prevented the hosts twice from taking the lead. It was a hard-fought match, with neither team willing to back down from challenges. This in turn affected the game flow and resulted in very few clear goal scoring opportunities.

Ingolstadt were unfortunate when referee Marco Fritz disallowed Benjamin Hübner's goal in the 49th minute for an alleged offside position. Zuck was again presented with a fantastic opening in the 72nd minute but Ingolstadt defender Danilo Soares deflected the ball behind.

Düsseldorf end Darmstadt's unbeaten run

The second game on Saturday featured Fortuna Düsseldorf and SV Darmstadt, who were unbeaten in 16 consecutive games prior to this match. In the end, Darmstadt suffered an unfortunate 2-0 defeat on the road. It was Düsseldorf’s first home victory in 2015.

Charlison Benschop bagged a brace for the hosts (44' pen, 66'), who had already secured a 4-1 victory in Darmstadt earlier this season. That match was also the last time SVD were beaten. Darmstadt (45 points) won’t be in second place by the end of Sunday because fourth-placed Karlsruher SC (43) host third-placed 1. FC Kaiserslautern (45). Düsseldorf now have 39 points to their name and have climbed to fifth place.
