The reigning Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund have signed Marco Reus. The transfer was confirmed by his current club Borussia Mönchengladbach on Wednesday. The 22-year old Reus, who made his debut for the German national team in a 3-1 won over Turkey in Istanbul last October, will join Dortmund’s team this summer. Dortmund is also the hometown of his parents and his girlfriend.
"This really is not a vote against Gladbach", said Reus. "I had a wonderful time. They gave me this chance to prove myself in the Bundesliga." Reus reportedly made the decision to move from Gladbach to Dortmund during his Christmas vacation, which he spend in Dubai. "I made up my mind that I need to make this next step, which is to play for a team that competes for the championship and qualifies for the Champions League on a regular basis."
