Successful World Cup test in Canada

Germany's Women's National Team returns home with a win from their test against host Canada in Vancouver. Lena Lotzen and Simone Laudehr secure the 2-1 (1-0) victory with their goals.

15.618 visitors in the BC Place Stadium saw a lively match with the first opportunity for Canada striker Christine Sinclair after 12 minutes in a one-on-one against German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer. On the other side Laexandra Popp hit the crossbar from 30 metres minutes later (18th).

The lead came by the hand of Lotzen, who tipped in Popp's header after a cross by Laudehr after 29 minutes. Bianca Schmidt could have made it 2-0 seconds after, but the next goal was scored by the hosts. Sophie Schmidt surprising Angerer with a lob shortly after the break (53rd).

After missing a handful of chances, Laudehr secured victory from the penalty spot in minute 65. Lotzen had been brought down in the box by Buchanan.
