Stuttgart celebrate victory against HSV

On round eight of the Bundesliga on Sunday, Burkina Faso striker Aristide Bance had a 67th-minute header cleared off the line as Augsburg were denied a second consecutive league win after being held to a goalless draw at Nuremberg.

The draw sees Augsburg remain 16th in the league, while Nuremberg drop to 15th after Stuttgart jumped up to 12th following their 1-0 victory at Hamburg on Sunday evening.

Stuttgart striker Vedad Ibisevic scored the winner on 30 minutes as Hamburg suffered their first defeat in five games and it was Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart's first loss since signing from Tottenham Hotspur in August.

Defeat drops Hamburg to tenth in the league while Stuttgart claim only their third win of the season.

Schalke 04 celebrated a 2-1 (1-0) victory at Borussia Dortmund in the Ruhr derby and extended their lead on the archrivals to five points. Meanwhile Bayern München had their eight victory in a row with a 5-0 (2-0) at Fortuna Düsseldorf and are now five points ahead of runners-up Eintracht Frankfurt (3-1 against Hannover).

Six goals, but no winner: Hoffenheim and Fürth draw 3-3 in the opening match of the Bundesliga on Friday. Lasse Sobiech scores Fürth's equaliser in the stoppage time. Hoffenheim took the lead three times - twice by Joselu - but couldn't get the win.

On Sunday (3.30 pm), 1. FC Nürnberg wants to win again after four losses in a row. FC Augsburg ist the opponent. At 5.30 pm, Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart conclude the round.
