The former Arsenal striker started in the 1-0 victory over Bursaspor and couldn’t hide his delight on social media afterwards. “It’s been the perfect day,” announced the Germany international on Twitter.
The winner was scored by former Dortmund star Yasin Öztekin after just 21 minutes. Podolski was withdrawn after 84 minutes and watched on as his side wrapped up the success. At full time he was seen celebrating wildly with boss Hamza Hamzaoglu.
Supercup victory capped off a perfect year for the Turkish record champions, who have already won the league title and domestic cup in 2015. The Süper Lig gets under way next weekend. Podolski and Co. travel to Sivasspor on Saturday.
