Stendera and Selke selected in Germany U20 squad

Frank Wormuth has selected 18 players in his squad for the upcoming international against Italy, which takes place on Tuesday, 21st April (15:00 CEST) in Frosinone. As well as the initial squad, Wormuth has put nine players on standby for the game. The game in the Comunale Matusa stadium is the final fixture of a round-robin tournament featuring Germany, Italy, Poland and Switzerland. It also acts as a dress rehearsal ahead of this year’s World Cup, which takes place in New Zealand this summer.

There are no real surprises in Wormuth’s squads. Those selected have already represented the sides before. Alongside Marc Stendera, Davie Selke and Timon Wellenreuther (all of whom have Bundesliga experience), he has selected hot prospects such as Dortmund’s Jeremy Dudziak and Matti Steinmann, who plays for Hamburger SV.

Germany will finish the tournament in third place, regardless of what happens against Italy. Poland have won the tournament (13 points), Italy will finish second (9) and Switzerland will finish in last place (3).
