After the 3-1 win in their European Championship qualifier against Poland, Die Mannschaft will look to go one better when they face Scotland in Glasgow tonight at 20:45 CEST. The team's aim is clear once again – to take all three points against the Tartan Army.

Germany sit at the top of qualifying Group D with 16 points, with Poland in second, two points behind. Tonight's opponents, Scotland, are in fourth place with eleven points and sit one point behind third-place Ireland, leaving them under serious pressure to get a result. DFB.de has all the facts and figures ahead of the clash with the Scots.

European Championship qualification: It is possible for Germany to book their ticket to Euro 2016 tonight, as long as they finish the day with at least a seven-point lead over third place. One such possible scenario would see Germany beat Scotland and Ireland lose their home match against Georgia, allowing Germany to seal qualification with two games to spare.

Fact I: The European Championship qualifier against Scotland in Glasgow is the 904th match in the history of the German national side, who have recorded 525 wins, 183 draws and 195 losses since their first match on the 5th April 1908. In the 903 games, in which 917 players have featured, Germany have scored a total of 2032 goals and conceded 1072.

Fact II: Joachim Löw will take charge of the German team for the 124th time since his first match in August 2006. His record is impressive, with 83 wins, 22 draws and 18 losses. In his 123 matches, he has used 101 players, giving 76 of them their debuts. One such debutant was Emre Can of English club Liverpool, who played his first game for the national side in Friday's 3-1 win against Poland in Frankfurt.

Fact III: It will be the 17th time that Germany face off against Scotland, with the record so far standing at seven wins for Germany, four wins for Scotland, and five draws. When the two sides faced each other in the reverse fixture last September, Germany won 2-1 in Dortmund courtesy of two goals from Thomas Müller, who grabbed a second-half winner after Ikechi Anya had equalised for the Scots.

Most appearances: The undisputed leader in this field is Lothar Mattäus, with the former FIFA World Player of the Year making 150 appearances for the national side between 1980 and 2000. Of the current crop of players, Lukas Podolski is the most experienced with 126 caps, whilst captain Bastian Schweinsteiger, with 112 caps, is the only other player to appear over 100 times for his country.

Record goalscorers: Miroslav Klose leads the all-time German scoring chart with 71 goals, just ahead of the legendary Gerd Müller, who has 68. However, Müller's goals came in just 62 international matches, whilst Klose made 137 appearances before retiring last year. In the current squad, Podolski leads the way with 48 goals, followed by Thomas Müller, Bastian Schweinsteiger and André Schürrle, who have 28, 23 and 20 goals respectively.
