St. Pauli close the gap

FC St. Pauli is only one point behind third place after a 1-0 away win at VfR Aalen in one of three Sunday matches of Round 15 of the Second Bundesliga thanks to a goal by Christopher Nöthe. Fortuna Düsseldorf suffered another setback with a 0-3 at Erzgebirge Aue, while Karlsruher SC eye the top of the league after beating Dynamo Dresden just as soundly 3-0.

On Saturday Kaiserslauten finished off Union Berlin in a pursuer duell. The "red devils" won their eigth game a row by 3:0. Meanwhile 1. FC Köln were defeated surprisingly. They conceeded their second defeat in a row and lost 0:1 against FC Ingolstadt

VfL Bochum cut their deficit to four points regarding thrid place in the Friday matches. The former Bundesliga team won 2-0 (1-0) at Arminia Bielefeld, handing them their seventh consecutive loss. In other matches SC Paderborn fell 2-3 to SV Sandhausen, despite leading twice and rock-bottom Energie Cottbus failed to sum up points under new coach Stephan Schmidt after a 1-4 home defeat against FSV Frankfurt.

In a bavarian derby on Monday 1860 München beat SpVgg Greuther Fürth 1-0.
