Sorg selects squad for Four Nations Tournament

Just one month after the Mercedes-Benz Elite Cup victory, the U19s face the next endurance test on the way to the 2016 European Championship. On the 13th November, the Germans will begin their Four Nations Tournament campaign, with their newly called-upon 34-man squad.

Marcus Sorg has selected four goalkeepers, twelve defenders, twelve midfielders and six strikers, who will all assemble in the south of Germany in preparation of the competition. The U19s will face Sweden, Serbia and France in that order over a period of five days in the tournament.

For Sorg, the competition is, above all else, an opportunity to see how well his team can perform ahead of the European Championship. After the Elite Cup success, Sorg said he noticed a development within the team. "We have made progress, but we have also seen things that we must work on."

The coach, however, will give his team some time. "We have some time until the European Championships. We want to use that time to move in the right direction." The next challenge, however, awaits them.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Timo Königsmann, Florian Müller, Moritz Nicolas, Dominik Reimann

Defenders: Frederic Ananou, Matthias Bader, Kentu Malcolm Badu, Joshua Bitter, Lukas Boeder, Benedikt Gimber, Jannes Horn, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Till Schumacher, Jordan Torunarigha, Ohis Felix Oduokhai, Robin Ziegele

Midfielders: Max Besuschkow, Amara Conde, Gino Fechner, Arianit Ferati, Moritz Heinrich, Benjamin Henrichs, Emmanuel Iyoha, Patrick Kammerbauer, Marvin Mehlem, Tsiy-William Ndenge, Suat Serdar, Fridolin Wagner
