Seven German players nominated for World 11

Seven German world champions have made the final shortlist for FIFA’s World 11. Football’s governing body announced the 55 nominees today, which included Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels, Philipp Lahm, Jerome Boateng, Thomas Müller (all Bayern München), Mesut Özil (Arsenal) and Toni Kroos (Real Madrid). An additional four FC Bayern players were also nominated, in David Alaba, Xabi Alonso, Arturo Vidal and Robert Lewandowski.

Almost 25,000 players spanning 70 countries will take part in the voting process, with the final FIFA FIFPro World 11 2016 to be announced on 9th January 2017 in Zurich, at the same ceremony when The Best FIFA Men’s Player prize is also awarded. Alongside favourites Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, the 23 nominees for that prestigious honour also include Manuel Neuer, Mesut Özil and Toni Kroos.
