Setback for Klose and Lazio

World Champion Miroslav Klose was left disappointed on a milestone evening last night (Monday 9th February). The 36-year-old was making his 100th appearance in Serie A but his side Lazio went down 1-0 at the hands of Genoa. Klose played the full 90 minutes but was unable to prevent Lazio slipping to their eighth defeat of the season.

Goalkeeper Federico Marchetti didn’t make things easy for Klose and his men after he was sent off in the first half for bringing down M’Baye Niang in the box. The resulting penalty was converted by Argentinean Diego Perotti (30’).

Lazio currently sit in sixth on 34 points and a currently not occupying one of the European places, whilst Genoa are seventh, one place behind the side from Rome, on 32 points.
