Serge Gnabry signs for Bayern

Bayern München have signed Serge Gnabry. The Germany U21s international, who announced a few days ago he would leave Werder Bremen this summer, has been signed by the German Record Champions on a three-year deal.

Gnabry activated a clause in his Werder contract, allowing him to leave the club for a sum of eight million euros. “We’re happy that in Serge Gnabry, another Germany international has come to FC Bayern. Serge developed very well in Bremen,” said board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Gnabry himself called it “a great honour to become part of FC Bayern. I have exciting times ahead of me, which I’m really looking forward to.”

The 21 year old is Bayern’s third new signing after two other Germany and Hoffenheim players Niklas Süle and Sebastian Rudy. Gnabry, who won the silver medal with the Germany team at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, moved to Werder Bremen from Arsenal last summer after arriving back from Brazil. He scored eleven goals last season in 27 appearances. Before joining up with Bayern for pre-season, he’ll feature for the Germany U21s at the Euros in Poland, which run from the 16th to the 30th of June.
