Schweinsteiger on target again for Chicago

World Champion Bastian Schweinsteiger helped Chicago Fire to their second straight victory in the Major League Soccer. The 32-year-old found the target in his side’s 3-0 victory over New England Revolution, his second goal in just three appearances since joining the MLS club.

Just before the break, Schweinsteiger skilfully managed to hold on to the ball in the opposition box, seeing off challenges from two defenders, to slot home with a fine low strike into the far corner. Hungarian Nemanja Nikolic added two more goals to Chicago’s lead after the break after New England were reduced to ten men following Je-Vaughn Watson’s red card after just 27 minutes. With eleven points from six games Chicago sit in third place in the Eastern Conference, behind leaders Columbus Crew SC and Orlando City. Schweinsteiger is set to face Toronto FC on Friday.
