Schweinsteiger: "Incredible things do happen sometimes"

Following FC Bayern München's 1-0 home defeat in the Bavarian Derby with FC Augsburg, Bastian Schweinsteiger discussed the current situation at the record champions and looked ahead to Tuesday's return leg with FC Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final (20:45 CEST).

Question: Mr. Schweinsteiger, how will you pull off a miracle against Barcelona on Tuesday?

Bastian Schweinsteiger: We all know that it won't be easy, but we will give it a try. That much is clear. Obviously we have to be on constant alert of Barca's quality, especially that of their attacking players. But we have to try everything we can to turn the tie around. Incredible things do happen sometimes in football. Hopefully Tuesday will be one of those days for us.

Question: What will your game-plan for Tuesday look like?

Schweinsteiger: Our coach will make that decision. But we will definitely attempt everything within our power. But the coach ultimately decides what the tactics will look like.

Question: Bayern have not managed to score a goal in six hours. Does that worry you?

Schweinsteiger: It's definitely not a positive thing, but I know that in this time we have also created chances. In Leverkusen, we were one-on-one with the keeper three times and in Barcelona we also had opportunities when the score was still 0-0. And we also had chances against Augsburg.

Question: What will you have to improve?

Schweinsteiger: We need higher concentration when trying to convert our chances, or to create clearer chances for ourselves. Breaking the deadlock would certainly make things easier for us.

Question: Are you annoyed with all the discussions and debates around Guardiola's future and changes in the squad?

Schweinsteiger: I don't really get involved in these topics. I try to focus on the tasks at hand, which is to work hard in training and try to implement what the coach expects of us. I don't know what is being discussed, because I don't really pay attention to it.
