Schürrle on target in Chelsea goalfest

Chelsea increased their lead at the top of the English Premier League thanks in part to a goal from Germany international Andre Schürrle from the bench. The Blues stormed to a 5-0 victory against Swansea City on matchday 22 and now five points clear of their closest rivals and reigning champions, Manchester City, who host Arsenal, with Per Mertesacker and Mesut Özil in their ranks, in the headline game on Sunday.

The goals against the Welsh side who were unable to win against Chelsea in the top flight at their eight attempt, were scored by Oscar (2), top scorer Diego Costa (2), with season goals number 13 and 14, and Schürrle. The World Champion was subbed on in the 76th minute and promptly netted his third goal of the season thanks to good work from Bratislav Ivanovic.

Liverpool came out on top 2-0 against Aston Villa with U21 international Emre Can in the starting XI in their pursuit of the European places.

Leverkusen loanee Philipp Wollscheid made his second appearance for Stoke City in their 1-0 victory over Leicester City to claim his first victory for the Potters. Ex-Germany international Robert Huth sat on the bench for Stoke.
