Schürrle: "I can't believe it"

Timo Horn: We started very well. You didn’t get the impression that Stuttgart were going to take anything from the game initially, but then we practically gave them the equaliser, and the game turned on its head. We were shocked from that point onwards.

Timo Werner: The game was very important today. It was one of those ones that we simply had to win. Now we face Hamburg and then Frankfurt. These teams are equally strong as Cologne. If we play like we did today, then I think we have reason to be optimistic.

1899 Hoffenheim 1-1 Bayer Leverkusen

Sebastian Rudy: We got back into the game well after the break, and should have made it 2-0. It’s frustrating that we couldn’t. It wouldn’t have meant the game was over, but we would have been one step closer. I think we did well physically, and put in a good performance. We are not satisfied with just the one point.

Jonathan Tah: The first half was somewhat disjointed, we weren’t able to get into our stride. The second half was a lot better, and we managed to score a goal. We would have liked to have taken more from the game. I am pleased with my assist, but it would have been nicer had we taken all three points.

After the game come the microphones. Reporters ask, players answer. DFB.de have summarised the most important points from the Germany internationals involved. What do the players have to say about their performances? Today it’s the turn of André Schürrle , Thomas Müller, Marco Reus and Mats Hummels.

Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 VfL Wolfsburg

André Schürrle: It’s unbelievable. We had everything under control in the first half. The fans were whistling their own team, and we should have scored four goals. We weren’t calm enough on the ball in the second half. I can’t believe it; we shouldn’t have lost that game. We have to keep working hard. We were very diligent during the winter break, and this will become obvious as the season progresses.

Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-3 Borussia Dortmund

Ilkay Gündogan: There were a few situations in the game where it was a bit touch and go. For example the header early on which hit the bar, or the period after they got one back. But this is always to be expected in these kinds of games. We played well and deserved to win in the end. I knew before the game that Hertha and Leverkusen had dropped points, so it was important for us to get all three. It’s great that we managed to do so against a good team like Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Marco Reus: It was a very complicated game. Gladbach played attacking football and took risks going forward. We weren’t clinical enough and needed to score earlier. I had some great years in Gladbach, I think the most important thing is showing respect. They are a big club.

Mats Hummels: It’s always difficult to play in Gladbach, it’s no coincidence that we haven’t won here since 2009. The coach said before the game that it would be a real fight, not the kind of game where you can easily play the ball around the opposition. We did very well, and deserved to win. Gladbach had a couple of good chances, but in the end we had the best chances overall. We have been able to gain an advantage over Mönchengladbach, Leverkusen and Hertha, which is fantastic.

Julian Weigl: It was a real fight, and we did very well. Overall it was a good performance, and we withstood their pressure well in the second half, and scored our goals at the right time. We can’t take our foot off the pedal after a good start to the second half of the season. We have to keep going.

Hamburger SV 1-2 Bayern München

Holger Badstuber: It was an aggressive fight. Hamburg did well defensively, and didn’t make it easy for us. It was a very different Hamburg to last time. Of course we could have played better, but I think it was a good performance overall.

Thomas Müller: We won the game and are pleased. We knew they wouldn’t give us anything today. In my opinion, it couldn’t have gone any better - I am happy. We knew we weren’t at 100%, we saw that in the game against Karlsruhe too. We knew that we were going to be able to compete and were capable of getting all three points. That’s exactly what we did. We want to improve with each game.

1. FC Köln 1-3 VfB Stuttgart
