Schalke keep contact, Hannover dream of Europe

Schalke 04 keep contact with the leading trio at the Bundesliga after beating VfL Wolfsburg 4-0 on Sunday. The hosts cut the deficit to third-placed FC Bayern München to just one point. Later on Sunday Hannover 96 beat VfB Stuttgart 4-2 to keep their European ambitions alive.

The win came at a price as midfielder Patrick Herrmann scored Gladbach's first goal after only nine minutes, but was later carried off with a broken collarbone and is expected to be out for the next six weeks.
