Schalke climb to fourth place, Bayern München is back on top

Schalke 04 climb to fourth place with a 3-1 win over FC Augsburg as round 15 of German Bundesliga was completed on Sunday. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Christian Fuchs and Raúl scored for Schalke, Sascha Mölders netted for Augsburg.

Hours before Hamburger SV stayed undefeated for the seventh time in a row as the beat 1. FC Nürnberg 2-0 by goals of Paolo Guerrero and Marcell Jansen.

Bayern Munich shot back to the top of the German league on Saturday with an impressive 4-1 win over 10-man Werder Bremen on Saturday and replaced defending champions Dortmund who were held 1-1 at Moenchengladbach.

France star Franck Ribery scored two superb individual goals, while Dutch winger Arjen Robben converted two penalties as Munich opened a one-point lead at the top. To compound Bremen's misery, midfielder Aaron Hunt was sent off 10 minutes from time after being shown a straight red card following a foul on Germany star Toni Kroos.

Dortmund drop to second after they were held to a 1-1 draw at third-placed 'Gladbach. The visitors went ahead when Poland striker Robert Lewandowski rose highest to head home a corner on 40 minutes for his 10th league goal of the season.

The hosts drew level on 72 minutes when ex-Germany striker Mike Hanke scored his third goal in two games, but the draw leaves both teams level on 30 points, one behind Bayern.

At the evening Köln striker Lukas Podolski scored twice in Stuttgart in a 2-2 draw.

Japan star Makoto Hasebe was sent off for Wolfsburg in their 2-2 draw at home to Mainz as Wolves threw away a 2-0 lead. The Japanese midfielder earned his second yellow card of the game, and was shown red, after holding Mainz's Swiss striker Mario Gavranovic in the game's dying stages. The draw leaves Wolfsburg 11th, one place above Mainz.

A header from Senegal striker Papiss Cisse gave Freiburg a point at home to Hanover in a 1-1 draw, while Kaiserslautern were held 1-1 at home to Hertha Berlin.

On Friday, Leverkusen went sixth in the league with a 2-0 win at home to Hoffenheim.
