On the 16th round of German Bundesliga Schalke 04 continued their positive trend. The team of coach Felix Magath achieved a 1-0-win at Mainz 05 on Sunday and climbed from 15th to 10th position. SC Freiburg beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-0 and took over the 5th place from Bayern München. Gladbach are still at the bottom of the table with only ten points.
On Saturday Borussia Dortmund defeated Werder Bremen 2-0 and still hold an eleven-point lead over Bayer Leverkusen. Nuri Sahin and Shinji Kagawascored for Dortmund. Leverkusen extended their unbeaten streak to seven games by beating Hamburg 4-2.
Defending champions Bayern München won 3-0 against FC St. Pauli. 1. FC Köln defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0. After a draw at Kaiserslautern, former champion Wolfsburg are winless for six games now.
Hannover 96 defeated VfB Stuttgart 2-1 (1-0) on Friday. Didier Ya Konan scored twice to secure the tenth win of the season. After his first goal in the 35th minute, Stuttgart bounced back after 74 minutes, when Georg Niedermeier tied the game. But only two minutes later, Ya Konan scored again.
