Volland and Lewandowski star for TSG and Bayern

A brace by three-times-capped Germany international Kevin Volland secured TSG 1899 Hoffenheim their first win of the season, as they recorded a 3-1 win at FC Augsburg on matchday 7 in the Bundesliga. Volland restored the visitors’ lead midway through the second 45 and Jonathan Schmid sealed the win a few minutes later.

Defending champions FC Bayern München meanwhile extended their lead at the top of the standings, recording their seventh win from as many games thanks to a brace by Robert Lewandowski and a goal from new signing Kingsley Coman in a 3-0 win at 1. FSV Mainz 05. Thomas Müller missed a first-half penalty, before Lewandowski scored his seventh goal of the week, which also marked his 100th Bundesliga goal to give Bayern the lead shortly after half time. Granit Xhaka opened the scoring in the first half, and the Foals doubled their advantage a short time later when Christian Gentner scored an own goal. Leverkusen win in Bremen - Wolfsburg held by Hannover

Bayer 04 Leverkusen are back on track after a scrappy start to their Bundesliga campaign, recording a comfortable 3-0 win in Bremen. Admir Mehmedi was on target for the visitors after 30 minutes as Bremen struggled to create chances against a confident Bayer 04 side. The victory means Roger Schmidt’s men are now fifth, while Werder remain in the bottom half of the standings.

The Lower Saxony derby between VfL Wolfsburg and Hannover 96 was a hard-fought encounter which ended in a 1-1 draw, as the Wolves failed to claim third place. Hannover, on the other hand, remain the bottom side in the table after recording just two points and no wins from their opening seven games. Bas Dost fired Wolfsburg into a deserved lead before half time, while Hiroshi Kiyotake grabbed a surprising equaliser in the second 45.
