Sané and Baumgartl in squad for European Championship training camp

The U19s, with many well-known players in their ranks, are in the final stages of their preparation for the European Championships in Greece (6th – 19th July 2015). In his 30-man squad for the training camp, which will take place in Grassau from the 1st – 5th June, DFB manager Marcus Sorg has named several players with Bundesliga experience, including FC Schalke 04‘s Leroy Sané and VfB Stuttgart’s Timo Baumgartl. In addition, there are 14 players on standby.

"The purpose of the training camp is to convey and instil certain ideas," commented Sorg. "Anything is possible at the European Championship." The manager has called up other familiar faces as well as Sané and Baumgartl. Other players involved are Fortuna Düsseldorf’s Jonathan Tah, Bayern München’s Gianluca Gaudino, FSV Mainz 05’s Devante Parker and Stuttgart‘s Timo Werner, who having played in eleven U19 games and with nine goals to his name is the most experienced and prolific player in the side.

Germany have the opportunity to defend their title in Greece. The U19 side, which then included Davie Selke, Marc Stendera and Julia Brandt, triumphed in 2014 in Hungary.
