Rosengard and Mittag come out on top

Anja Mittag’s FC Rosengard extended their lead at the top of the Swedish Damallsvenskan thanks to a 2-1 victory over Eskilstuna United DFF, who were second going into matchday six. Rosengard extended their 100% record and are now six points clear of Kristianstads DFF, who jumped into second this weekend.

Rosengard fell behind after just seven minutes thanks to a goal from Gaelle Enganamouit but Brazilian superstar Marta equalised for the hosts with a 41st minute header. The winner was scored by Therese Sjögran for Rosengard in the 62nd minute after impressive build-up play from Mittag.

Mittag could be moving on

The Germany international could be leaving the Swedish side to join Champions League finalists Paris Saint-Germain in the coming weeks. Mittag admitted that there has been contact between the parties but that no agreements are in place.

Nadine Angerer is already on her way to Europe to link-up with the Germany senior squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup so wasn’t in action this weekend for the Portland Thorns. The Thorns lost 1-0 to the Boston Breakers thanks to Kristie Mewis’ third minute goal. Former Potsdam star Genoveva Anonma made her debut for Portland in the game. Angerer’s side are currently fourth in the table after five games, lying three points behind top-of-the-table Chicago Red Stars (11).

Isabell Bachor helped Lilleström SK pick up their seventh win in eight games in the Norwegian Toppserien, They beat Valerenga 4-0 thanks to goals from Marit Sandvei (17’), Lene Mykjaland (27’), Anja Sönstevold (34’) and Ingrid Moe Wold (78’). Lilleström are five points clear at the top of the table.
