Ribéry extends contract with FC Bayern until 2018

Franck Ribéry will play at FC Bayern München for an eleventh season, having extended his contract with the German record champions for an additional year until 2018. The Frenchman joined Bayern in 2007 from Olympique Marseille.

“Bayern’s success in recent years is closely linked with the name of Franck Ribéry. He’s a key player in our team and a crowd favourite,” said Executive Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Ribéry expressed his delight at agreeing the extension to his contract: “This great club and this city have become my home, both from a sporting perspective and from a private one. I look forward to many more great moments here.”

Ribéry has made 333 competitive appearances for Bayern so far, scoring 108 goals and providing 164 assists – including the one for Arjen Robben’s 2-1 winner in the 2013 Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund. Ribéry was crowned European Football player of the Year that season. He has also won six Bundesliga titles with Bayern, five DFB Cups as well as the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup (both in 2013).
