Reus provides breakthrough moment for BVB

Borussia Dortmund ended their terrible run on matchday 20 in the Bundesliga, winning a game for the first time since 5th December 2014. A 3-0 triumph at SC Freiburg gave them some much needed breathing space in the relegation battle, as they are no longer in last place. It was Dortmund's tenth consecutive victory over SCF.

Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang provided the goals for BVB, who have leapfrogged SCF in the standings thanks to the win. Borussia took control of the match early on and created chances through Germany international Marco Reus right from the start. Freiburg keeper Roman Bürki did well to keep the scores level for as long as he did.

Just nine minutes into the game, however, Reus converted from close range following a mistake from Mike Frantz and an Aubameyang pass. Gündogan and Kagawa had further chances for Dortmund in the first half, while Oliver Sorg's long-range attempt in the 43rd minute was Freiburg's first and only real chance. Two Aubameyang strikes after the break wrapped up a critical three points.

Schürrle off to good start at Wolfsburg

VfL Wolfsburg kept pace with FC Bayern not least thanks to a successful debut by World Cup winner André Schürrle. The Wolves secured a 3-0 home win over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with thanks to a Bas Dost strike and a Kevin de Bruyne brace. Schürrle assisted the opening two goals.

It was Schürrle's first appearance in the squad since leaving Chelsea and he immediately got to play in his favourite position on the left wing, with Ivan Perisic unavailable due to injury. The World Champion did not need long to make his presence felt, setting up Bas Dost's opener in the third minute in a very similar manner to his World Cup winning assist for Mario Götze against Argentina.

Wolfsburg continued to control the action on the pitch and produce chances. Kevin de Bruyne scored his second brace in three games to round off the scoring.

Bayern claim comfortable victory in Stuttgart

Defending champions FC Bayern claimed their first victory in 2015 thanks to a commanding 2-0 success in Stuttgart. Arjen Robben opened the scoring with his twelfth goal of the season. After being picked out by Weise, he entered the Stuttgart penalty area and unleashed a powerful volley into the top corner.

David Alaba’s beautiful 30-yard free kick in the second half left Stuttgart keeper Sven Ulreich with no chance, as Bayern's completed a 13th consecutive competitive win against VfB. The situation keeps getting worse for Stuttgart, as they now haven’t recorded a win in any of their last seven Bundesliga games. As a result, they have dropped into last place.
