Reus makes friendly comeback

Borussia Dortmund can once again rely on the services of Germany international Marco Reus in their challenge to rise up the Bundesliga table. The 25-year-old winger made his comeback in the club’s final game of their training camp in La Manga, Spain, as he put in a promising first 45 minutes in a 1-0 win against Romanian champions Steaua Bucharest.

Playing about two months after suffering an ankle ligament injury in late November, the Dortmund star was involved in much of BVB’s good play during the first half and linked up well with the club’s new signing Kevin Kampl. That means that Dortmund’s manager Jürgen Klopp, who celebrated victory thanks to Jakub Blaszczykowski’s goal in the 85th minute, only has to worry about Sebastian Kehl.

The club’s ex-captain had to be replaced just before the break because of a dislocated shoulder following a clash with the new Dortmund skipper Mats Hummels. It is not yet known how badly the former Germany international was injured, just two weeks before the club’s first game of the second half of the season against Bayer Leverkusen. He will have an X-ray on his shoulder and, according to Dortmund, the results will be known on Sunday. That is also the case regarding Kevin Großkreutz, who was injured in the second half. The World Champion landed awkwardly following a tackle and turned his ankle.
