Reinhard Grindel to run for UEFA’s executive committee

DFB president Reinhard Grindel is running for a seat on UEFA’s executive committee. The chairman of DFB proposed Grindel as a candidate with unanimous support for the vacant important position on the UEFA committee at his conference in Grassau. The DFB president will stand for election for UEFA’s executive committee at their congress on 5th April 2017 in Helsinki. Wolfgang Niersbach currently occupies the position.

DFL president Dr. Reinhard Rauball said, “It is important that German football is also represented in the future on UEFA’s executive committee. DFL therefore welcomes the fact that Reinhard Grindel is ready to take on responsibility on the European stage and to do so in the interests of German football.”

Dr. Rainer Koch, the first vice president of the DFB board, explained that “Reinhard Grindel has brought in important measures to increase transparency and good governance at the DFB as its president and will advocate that for UEFA. Furthermore, he is very aware of people’s concerns at grassroots level and will always champion the concerns of football on the international stage.”
