Real Madrid and Kroos defend Champions League title

World Champion Toni Kroos and Real Madrid have won the Champions League again. The Spanish champions became the first team to defend the title in the modern era in Cardiff at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff with a 4-1 win over Juventus and his international team mate Sami Khedira. The victory marks Real Madrid's twelfth Champions League and Kroos' third, after winning it with Real last season and with FC Bayern München in 2013. Juventus' loss is their fifth Champions League final in their last five.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a neat finish from the edge of the box, but Mario Mandžukić brought the scores level with a magnificent overhead kick just seven minutes later. The teams went into the break deadlocked, but Real Madrid took the lead again thanks to Casemiro's deflected strike on the hour mark. With their noses in front, the Spaniards took full advantage of the momentum, as Ronaldo grabbed another four minutes later to see put them clearly ahead. The game was sealed in stoppage time through Marco Asensio's finish, confirming Real Madrid's twelfth title.
